Saturday: go to dogpark. Rhea's poop is soft, but often is when she's excited (which is a lot.
Sunday: Eat at KingsOriental Whatsit (been renamed) with hadodad, sis, BIL and nieces. Start mixing new adult-formula food in with pup-food.
Tues: hado wakes up in a.m. feeling poop/puke. Ends up water-butting all day. Rhea's poop getting runnier. Filter out so fewer pieces of dogfood in with pupfood.
[older niece sick/poopin' all day. Sis diarrhea-ing.]
Wed: less poopin' for hado, now belly is getting gassy and churny. Rhea tries to poop on evening walk, then has big normal then really runny poops.
Thurs: hado feeling more stomach-ness, and less poopin'. Rhea starts diarrhea-ing more frequently. Start seeing blood and mucous in the evening.
Fri: Rhea wakes up and going more often. Switches between really liquid brown poops, and mostly-red-goop.
COMMON FACTOR (when we find last night sis/niece were sick too): RANDOM SUSHI THAT KINGS DOESN'T NORMALLY HAVE. It's the one definable thing that only they ate. Taylor (who was sick too) ate the most. Sushi was next to salad bar near mussels/shrimp. Looked like it was supposed to be California roll so could have been actual crab or more likely fakecrab (whitefish). Then Rhea could have gotten from feeding.
other possiblities: rhea got virus/bacteria from dogpark and passed it to hado either Sat or previously (then on to family on Sun, if it's related)
we've been eating a lot of eggs lately, maybe some were bad? and then passed it to rhea etc etc.
So far salmonella seems the most likely. DDDDD: Anyway, not what sure to do about either. I think hado will just finish riding this out, but poor Rhea seems to be getting worse. She's completely normal and hungry and active aside from this disgusting mess from her butt. Online suggestions are to withhold food for 12-24 hours to relieve the intestines and clear the system. She normally goes about 12 overnight between breakfast and dinner, so we stopped after lunch yesterday (4pm) and are pending. I guess I'll call the vet but the desk lady says "bring her in if you're worried" and they don't do anything. Since she's been vaccinated for parvo and is otherwise normal, it's likely either food or bacteria and I don't think really treatable except making sure she doesn't get dehydrated. Poor bb puppy. I'm really flustered. We try to be responsible pet owners, vaccinate, don't give them people-food and shit and this damned stupidass shit keeps cropping up. |
